Connect
Connect started as a series of hand printed 3 - colour screen prints on paper and folded creating a new and unique print. Katya placed the screen prints directly next to each other creating a large piece of work, connecting the horizontal and vertical coloured stripes, creating contrasts, rhythm and an energetic experience. Katya experimented with techniques, materials and how the screen prints can be visualised. She researched the bold weavers and designers of the women of the Bauhaus School, artist's Anni Albers, Otti Berger, Gunta Stölzl and Benita Koch-Otte who taught, studied and made pioneering work and were fundamental in setting the foundation in art and desgn innovation over the course of the Bauhaus School to present day. Inspired by the hard-edge patterns and geometric textiles, Katya continued to explore the work and created designs of repeated patterns of the screen prints in various layouts with Adobe Photoshop. She painted the final designs on cotton and linen canvas and created collages of the screen prints.
